Hello everyone!
I was wandering, what is your opinion on age difference in an Orthodox couple in order the marriage be successful? I understand that from person to person it differs, but I would like to find out your opinion. Do you think that age difference in the couple matters in order the marriage to be Christ-centered or not at all? Do you know if the Church says something specifically on this matter? I received a similar question in my askbox and I would like to compose a good answer!

Well, I looked in my Canonical Law books, and couldn't find anything on this, but I searched on the internet, and I found this page (http://www.crestinortodox.ro/carti-ortodoxe/pravila-bisericeasca/casatoria-legala-81901.html, in Romanian), which says:
The man's age must be between 18 and 70 years of age, and the woman's age, between 16 and 60 years of age, but the difference between them must not be bigger than 8 to 10 years.
If these conditions are not met, then one or more goals of marriage are not fulfilled (birth of children, avoiding fornication, helping each other, sanctification).

As far as I know, as long as it is within the confines of the "Age of consent" by the country you are in, any age is acceptable.
Keep in mind the great difference in age between the Theotokos and St Joseph.
