What is mysticism and from an orthodox point of view? Is there eastern and Western mysticism? If so what are the differences? Or is the West more scholastic and if so what are the difference between scholasticism and mysticism?
I've wondered this after a discussion with a former-Protestant-now-in-a-sort-of-a-transition-friend. She said that her christian education was purely scholastic but beside that some sort of "revelation" is needed in a christian faith. She also stated that mysticism is good but not to be mystic for the sake of mysticism.Is that even possible?
I have absolutely no clue what to make of this so I would really appreciate your input here
