I am going to rant a little here... Hopefully it is an intelligent rant...
Does anyone here ever just get fed up with all the bickering? I do believe we have to find THE truth, and find which church is doing it right and what not... but you get tired of going to forums, or facebook groups or what not about Christianity, or about Orthodoxy and EVERYONE has an opinion on what's the right way or the wrong way, and they tear the other down for not believing the way they do.
We are humans, disagreements will arise, but if we are truly seeking to exude the love of Christ why act this way? I don't know... I don't really know where I am going with this, just a bit frustrated is all..
I am not directing this to this group, because I have not yet seen that here.
Peace to you all.

For me, it depends on the topic.
if someone denies an Apostolic teaching or calls it false or a lie I will make a case for it to prevent others from being lulled into that belief since these are vital tenents of the faith brought down through Christ and his Apostles, and therefore something to be defended. If it is a menial thing like how many times to pray a day I will usually ignore it since it is a personal matter.
Tragically, Humility is something I struggle is. Please keep me in your prayers.

Hey, grimlok, when you see that, just tell us, ok?
We're watching any kind of misbehaviour. ;-)

I completely agree with you, Grimlock . . . actually, couldn't agree more. This is why I am so excited about OOCA . .
My Spiritual Father, Father Daniel, actually told me during a catechumen class that he thinks it isn't good to engage in ecumenical dialogue with Protestant, Catholics online. I kind of have to agree with him . . . .
I'm happy that this forum will be Orthodox centered.

I occasionally go on a Protestant chat room on carm.org because I used it back when I was a Protestant. I used to love speaking to the folks there because they seemed very welcoming and very kind, and eager to help me in my Christian development. Then I became Orthodox... Things changed, the attitude towards me was pretty hostile. In fact, the Orthodox and Catholics on that chat room found themselves being great friends in the face of Protestants constantly yelling "PAGANS, HERETICS, BLASPHEMERS".
Dialogue should only be taken with those who are willing to listen. Debates will not get anyone anywhere, which is why at this point, I really do not like debating. If they think I'm a paganinstic, heretical balsphemer, then good for them. They've only demonstrated their own ignorance.
1 Peter 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;"
Dialogue should be taken, but only to those who are looking for answers, and not just mindless debate.

Sometimes debate is necessary but you have to have it with someone who will listen. If someone shows that they are just sticking their fingers in their ears then its best to call it off though. As Vlad has stated, debate for debates sake is fruitless and is worth little.

Yeah, that's understandable, I have run into the "sticking fingers in ears" types or the "I'm taking my ball and going home" before...
