These days, my struggle seems to be mostly with anger and lust. I have posted before on Tumblr about my tendency to overdrink wich, in turn, leads to these passions, not to mention, being lazy.
Now, I am fighting back. His Eminence, The Metropolitan of Korea told me something very interesting in a group discussion. He asked us, "What would you do if somebody cut your face with a knife and was holding you, trying to steal from you or kill you?" Everybody in the gourp was trying to be "peaceful" and "Christian" with answers like, "I would try to love him", "I would turn the other cheek," etc.
HE Ambrosios laughed at us and said, "No you wouldn't. You would kick and scream and fight with everything you have to save yourself." He went on to say (and I paraphrase) we have to react the same way about our sins. The sins are the evil one trying to kill us, slowly. We need to fight with everything we have to save ourselves. How do we fight? Prayer, Fasting, Faith, and with the Church.
So, I am kicking and screaming against my passions . . it is hard, and I don't win every battle . . .
