Hi all,
I know that most of us know eachother from Tumblr but thought it best to have an introduction thread anyway just in case.
I am Orthodoxbrit. I am a 26 year old Secondary School Teacher and Oriental Orthodox Christian Subdeacon under the British Orthodox Church which is an autonymous juristiction of the Coptic Patriarchate of Alexandria. I am Currently Studying a Mth in Orthodox Studies at the University fo Winchester and God willing will go on to study a PhD focusing in Oriental Orthodox History.
It will be good to be able to talk to you all on a medium other than Tumblr.
And the rest of you?

I am reachingfortheheavens, both here and on tumblr. I am 21 years old and a senior in college, majoring in Journalism. I live in the United States.
Former Muslim, daughter of a Christian and a Muslim though I was not raised in a very religious home. I am currently an inquirer, hoping to become a catechumen in the not-too-distant future, but for now I'm happy just to be learning.
This was such a good idea! I look forward to getting to know everyone better and having some great conversations.

Hello, all! My name is Jonathan. As you probably could guess, I am also known as pedestrian-palamite on Tumblr. I am formerly a non-denominational Protestant and currently an inquirer into the Orthodox Christian faith (for the last four or five years). I live with my parents and siblings in the state of New York (in the USA). It's my great pleasure to be invited to this forum! I hope to get to know all of you better, and call all of you my friends. EDIT: I should add that I am 23 years old and a graduate from university.

Hello, everyone! I'm Andrei-Liviu Sârb, I'm the initiator of this forum and project, and I'm the guy who came up with this idea. And, at the moment, I'm also the administrator of this board. I'm 24; I'm a graduate of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology "Justinian the Patriarch" of the University of Bucharest, and currently a church singer (in my 7th year now). I'm going to take the admittance exam to the same Faculty's Master studies, in the area of Historic Theology (aiming for the History of Byzantium). I'm married (July 4th, 2010) with Alexandra, with whom I work on TheologiaViva (link on my profile). I see that we have started the intros. Good thing. I wanted also to say that our next thing on our list is to create a 5-member Council, which will propose different measures for the further development of this forum and Assembly. For now, we're still waiting for others to come, and, at some point, we'll start voting. So, make yourselves confortable, and put your neurons into motion! Welcome to the OOCA, everyone!Oh, forgot to say: I'm under the Romanian Orthodox Church, currently lead by His Beatitude + Daniel, Arhchbishop of Bucharest, Metropolitan of Wallachia and Dobrudja, locum-tenens of the throne of Caesarea in Cappadocia, and Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Hello! I am so glad to read the descriptions of all of you! I am Simply Orthodox and I am 20 years old. I am from Greece. I am a "cradle" Orthodox (namely I was raised in an Orthodox home and Church and was baptized at a very young age, like the majority of Greeks). I am under the Church of Greece, the autocephalous Church in communion with the Ecumenical Patriarchate. I am very excited that I have met you all, and I hope we will meet in real life one day!

Hello, everybody! I meant to do my introduction post earlier so please forgive me for the delay.
My name's Rachel and I run Byzantium Bound on Tumblr. I'm 22 and I'm from the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. I am an inquirer into the Orthodox Christian faith but grew up in various Protestant denominations (i.e. Wesleyan, Baptist).
I'm attending a small OCA (Orthodox Church in America) parish in High Point. My OCA parish is in the Diocese of the South. If I am correct, the OCA's Diocese of the South is currently under the administration of His Eminence, The Most Reverend Nathaniel, Archbishop of Detroit and the Romanian Episcopate, Locum Tenens the Orthodox Church in America, and His Eminence, The Most Reverend Nikon, Archbishop of Boston, Locum Tenens of the Diocese of the South. I thought the OCA had some sort of connection with the Moscow Patriarchate but in regards to leadership and the OCA, I'm afraid my knowledge goes no further than that.
Also, I'm 22 and I'm a college student that is majoring in Pharmacy Technology. I have my certification and my diploma for my major but I'm working on an Associate's Degree in my major currently.
It's a pleasure to finally get to know you guys better! I look forward to posting with you guys!

Greetings. I am Theophilus F. known on Tumblr as Theophilus1979, formerly Theophilus79 pre-account hack. I am turning 33 tomorrow. I am a member of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, and am a seminarian to the Holy Priesthood under His Eminence, the Cosmopolitan Mar Hadrian of Canada. I have bounced back and forth between the Syriac and the Antiochian churches all of my life, and am fairly familiar with both Oriental and Eastern Rites as a result. I very much look forward to interacting with you all here, and have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy following you all on Tumblr.

Just a quick message; how do you upload the avatars? I've tried getting one hosted at imageshack but its not uploading.

After clicking on the modify profile box (found by clicking profile on the toolbar) there will be an avatar section where you can post the link, I don't think you can upload straight from the computer. It needs to be under 100X100 too. Then once you put the size and link into the correct sections you just click save and it should upload.
(edited: if you are using imageshack, check all the links they give as it may not work, mor just post it on Tumblr and get the link for it from 'copy image location' or just image info.)

Try to upload your avatar at tinypic.com/, then copy/paste the image direct link (which ends with .jpg, or.gif, or.png etc.) in the avatar text box on the profile page.

Speaking of which... There's also a signature option here. If anyone wants, I could make them a rather simple signature on Photoshop like the one I have.

Hello, My name is Jason and you may know me as: sojournerjourney.tumblr.com. I am not yet part of an Orthodox Church, but have been finding more and more interest in it. I am from a Baptist background, and have been slowly moving more Orthodox I think. I attended an Episcopal a while back, but did not like where they were going morally, and also a Catholic church, but am a bit wary of the whole Pope as God on Earth idea... Unfortunately there are no Orthodox churches very close. The closest one is about 1.5 to 2 hours away. So I'm not sure what I will do if I make the decision to become fully Orthodox. Anyways, that is me. Peace to you all.

Welcome Jason!
I feel your pain about being so far away from an Orthodox church. I have to take the train/subway/bus every weekend. It is about a 2 and half hour ride all together . . . Once I walk in the doors of the church, it is all worth it!
Cheers! -e.

Unfortunately we do not have public transportation either, but I do plan on going to one of them. We have a Greek Orthodox church closest, though I don't speak Greek... So I was thinking of going to an OCA church a little further. Once finances get a little less constrained I plan on it.

I have been attending a Korean Orthodox church where it is all in Korean. The Father has been gracious enough to read the Epistle and Gospels in not only Korean but also Russian(several Russian ex-pats attend) and English. Also, the Creed and Lords prayer are said in Russian and English. I hope you find a means to attend a Liturgy soon . .

Welcome everybody!! It is good to see so many people coming together. I cannot express how happy I am about this community . . Thank You Andrei and Alexandra for your hard work, putting it together.
I want to remind and let everybody know about the poll going on over in the "Catechumenal study room" . . . It will be open for another 5 days. If you want to join in a collective book read/discussion, place your vote on what you would like to read or re-read, as the case may be.
I'll put together a simple reading schedule and then we can let the discussion soar from there.
Many blessings to everybody . . Cheers -Erik
