My name is Loren. I believe I am the elder statesman of the forum. I'm 39 years old. My brother, Jason (grimlock), invited me. I, too, come from a Baptist background, graduated from a Bible College in Pennsylvania, was a bivocational youth pastor for a few years. I worked in a Presbyterian church and have ultimately ended up in an Anglican parish.
A friend of mine in youth ministry became Orthodox in the late 1990's and he was my first taste of it. After a few good and engaging conversations online with Fr. Thomas Hopcko and another prof at St. Vlad's, I began to read the Church Fathers, attend Vespers, etc. I even went to Confession in an Orthodox setting -- the most freeing experience of my Christian life apart from my initial conversion to Christ.
I love Orthodoxy and it's sense of balance compared to our unhappy divisions in the West. Theologically, I am orthodox. But I determined that I am a Western Christian in the final analysis and have been Anglican ever since. I was also an active member in the now-defunct Yahoo group ev-or, making some lifelong friends online. It was a group where Evangelicals and Orthodox could hold poen and honest dialogue.
Finally, I am an Oblate of St. Benedict. As a worker, his rule of work and prayer, of stability and the call to peace resonates throughout my entire life. God bless you all in your walk with Jesus Christ. May you grow closer to Him and deeper in your devotion to Him every day.

Hey guys! My name is Lara. I'm 20 years old. I wasn't raised with any religion. I have been to so many churches and they just don't feel right. So I figured I'd learn more about the Orthodox church, and I'm hoping to attend a service either this week or next week! I also have a tumblr (dialectic.tumblr.com). I'd love to get to know you guys I'm really hoping to learn a lot. |

Hi everyone,
I'm Evlin. I'm not a tumblr user so you will not know me:)
I'm 23. I'm from Antioch, Turkey. I'm a 'credle' Orthodox.
Currently I live in Cyprus, studying computer engineering.
Other than studying, I admin two web-pages and directing a Sunday School for children.

Hello everyone,
I am KayeEllen from Ohio in the USA -- a recent convert (Pascha 2012) from a protestant background. My father was a EUB/UMC pastor, which I practiced into my early 20's. I left the UMC and began my search/journey to Orthodoxy (well, actually I can identify MANY events throughout my whole life leading me) and eventually began to attend an American Baptist church for a number of years. As I mentioned before, my Chrismation was this past Pascha, and I was received into the Antiochian Orthodox Church.
I have been following a few of your blogs for a number of months now, and I find them quite wonderful and uplifting. I look forwrd to getting to know you all more through this assembly.
Additionally, I do have one question, I'm not the most computer literate person and I was wondering if anyone could explain to me how to upload or use pictures on my profile and for my signature? Thank you in advance.

My name is Panagiotis. I am a 26 year old teacher from Boston, Massachusetts. I am also 'cradle' Orthodox, but it was in my teenage years when I started to get more interested in my faith. My yiayia (grandmother) lives with us and has taught me a lot about Orthodoxy, along with my Greek parents. Hello everyone,
My name is Athanasios. Those of you on Tumblr may know me as Orthopraxis.
I am a 24 year old native of South Florida. I was raised in the Oneness Pentecostal religion, but became an Orthodox catechumen in 2008, and then was baptised in 2009 on the Feast of Sts. Athanasios the Great and Cyril of Alexandria. I go to an OCA parish.
Currently, I am a full-time graduate student working on a Master's degree in Accounting. I have previous Bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Religious Studies.

I'm immerlein. I know many of you from tumblr (using 'know' very generously, of course, haha!)
I'm 22, and am just about to start studying to become a preschool teacher. I have a Bachelor's degree in German and history.
I'm not Orthodox, yet, but currently attend a Greek Orthodox church. I absolutely love it. I don't really come from a background of religious faith (my parents had us kids baptised in the Catholic church, but that was the extent of it), but I was a practicing Catholic of my own choice before looking into Orthodoxy.
